HArmonyCa: The Dual-Action Approach to Facial Rejuvenation

As we age, facial rejuvenation is rarely about simply replacing lost volume. Changes in the skin, soft tissues and underlying facial structure occur progressively, leading to loss of firmness, reduced definition and a gradual change in the overall contours of the face.

This is why modern aesthetic medicine increasingly looks beyond conventional volumising fillers. Rather than simply adding volume, the goal is to restore structural support while encouraging the skin to become firmer and more resilient over time.

HArmonyCa™ is one of the newer injectable treatments designed around this concept. It combines two different materials — hyaluronic acid (HA) and calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) — in a single injectable treatment. The combination is designed to provide an immediate lifting and volumising effect while also supporting the body’s own collagen production.

What is HArmonyCa?

HArmonyCa is a hybrid injectable containing cross-linked hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres. The two components have different roles.

La hyaluronic acid component provides immediate structural support and a subtle lifting effect. HA is a naturally occurring substance found in the skin and has long been used in aesthetic medicine to restore volume and improve facial contours.

La calcium hydroxyapatite component works differently. Rather than simply adding volume, CaHA acts as a biostimulatory component, supporting the body’s natural collagen-production processes. Over time, this can contribute to improvements in firmness, skin quality and tissue support.

This combination is what makes HArmonyCa interesting: one treatment, two complementary mechanisms of action.

Immediate improvement, with progressive results

One of the advantages of HArmonyCa is that the treatment does not rely exclusively on collagen stimulation.

The hyaluronic acid provides an immediate structural effect, while the collagen-stimulating action develops progressively. Clinical investigations have reported improvements in tissue density, firmness and elasticity over subsequent months, with increased collagen observed in treated areas at 180 days in one prospective study.

This progressive development is particularly appealing to patients who want a rejuvenated appearance without looking as though they have simply had more filler added.

The objective is not to change the character of the face, but to restore some of the support and definition that gradually diminishes with age.

Who can benefit from HArmonyCa?

HArmonyCa may be considered for patients experiencing a combination of loss of facial structure, reduced firmness and age-related tissue laxity.

It can be particularly interesting when the objective is to improve areas such as the cheeks, lower face and jawline, depending on the patient’s individual anatomy and the assessment of the treating doctor.

However, there is no universal treatment plan. The same injectable can produce very different results depending on facial structure, skin quality, existing volume and the degree of tissue laxity.

For this reason, at The Metro Clinic, we do not recommend HArmonyCa simply because a patient requests it. A proper consultation is essential to determine whether it is appropriate and, importantly, whether it is actually the treatment that will address the patient’s concerns.

HArmonyCa versus Ellansé

HArmonyCa is sometimes compared with Ellansé, another collagen-stimulating injectable. There are similarities: both are designed to provide structural support while stimulating the body’s collagen response.

The important difference is the material used.

Ellansé is based on polycaprolactone (PCL) microspheres suspended in a carboxymethylcellulose gel. Unlike hyaluronic-acid fillers, it cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase. There is currently no established hyaluronidase equivalent that can simply dissolve PCL after injection.

This distinction is one of the main reasons we chose to work with HArmonyCa rather than Ellansé.

It is not because Ellansé cannot produce good aesthetic results. Rather, from our perspective, the ability to manage and modify a treatment is an important part of responsible aesthetic medicine.

With HArmonyCa, the HA component can be addressed with hyaluronidase if clinically necessary. The calcium hydroxyapatite component itself is not dissolved by hyaluronidase, so HArmonyCa should certainly not be described as completely reversible. Nevertheless, having an HA component that can be enzymatically treated provides an additional option for managing certain situations that is not available with PCL-based Ellansé.

For us, that additional degree of control is important when selecting injectable treatments for our patients.

Why product selection matters

In aesthetic medicine, longer-lasting does not automatically mean better.

A treatment should be selected according to the patient’s anatomy, the desired degree of correction, the quality of the tissues and the doctor’s ability to manage the product safely over time.

We believe that good aesthetic medicine should be about precision rather than excess. The aim is not to create an obviously treated appearance, but to make carefully considered improvements that remain harmonious with the patient’s natural features.

HArmonyCa offers an interesting approach because it combines immediate structural support with progressive collagen stimulation. Its dual-action formulation allows the treatment to address more than one aspect of facial ageing in a single procedure.

A personalised approach at The Metro Clinic

here is no injectable that is right for everyone.

At The Metro Clinic, every treatment begins with a consultation and a careful assessment of the patient’s facial anatomy, skin quality and expectations. We believe that recommending a treatment only makes sense when it can genuinely contribute to the result the patient wants to achieve.

For suitable patients, HArmonyCa can be an elegant option for restoring definition and support while encouraging the skin’s own collagen response — without trying to change the fundamental character of the face.

The most successful aesthetic treatments are often the ones that nobody can quite identify. You simply look fresher, firmer and more rested.

And ultimately, that is the philosophy behind our approach: tailored to your face.

HArmonyCa is a medical aesthetic injectable intended for use by qualified healthcare professionals. Suitability, injection technique, treatment areas and expected results must be determined during an individual medical consultation. Results vary between patients.
